Arunachal Pradesh Embraces Green Mobility with Electric Bus Rollout

Arunachal Pradesh marked World Environment Day with a landmark initiative, launching electric buses across five pivotal towns: Itanagar, Namsai, Tezu, Pasighat, and Roing. This move signifies a substantial leap towards sustainable urban transport and greener public transit within the state.

The ceremonial flag-off took place at the State Banquet Hall in Itanagar, presided over by Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein. He was accompanied by Transport Minister Ojing Tasing, a contingent of MLAs, senior government officials, and Itanagar Mayor Tame Phassang, underscoring the collective commitment to this eco-friendly endeavour.

This strategic introduction of electric buses represents a pivotal shift in Arunachal Pradesh’s approach to public transportation. The initiative is geared towards significantly curbing carbon emissions and modernising urban mobility, offering a cleaner, quieter, and more efficient travel experience for commuters. Officials highlighted the buses’ zero-emission nature, enhanced energy efficiency, and user-friendly design in a detailed video presentation.
