Arunachal Pradesh Eyes Major Water Sports Championships, Boosting Sports Tourism

Northeast Desk, 27th August: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu is spearheading efforts to transform the state into a hub for water sports by hosting major national and international rafting championships. In a significant move towards this vision, Khandu met with World Rafting Federation President Danilo Barmaz and Indian Rafting Federation President SPS Sikand to discuss the state’s potential in the world of competitive rafting.

The discussions centered on leveraging Arunachal Pradesh’s natural assets, particularly its powerful and numerous rivers, to host prestigious rafting events. Khandu expressed his enthusiasm for the state’s future in water sports, emphasizing that Arunachal’s terrain and waterways provide an ideal setting for such activities.

Taking to Twitter, Khandu shared his optimism following the “insightful discussion” with the rafting leaders, stating, “With our state’s mighty rivers, Arunachal holds tremendous potential for water sports, and I am excited about the opportunities ahead!”

This initiative is expected to significantly boost sports tourism in Arunachal Pradesh.
