Arunachal Pradesh Governor Discusses Textile and Railway Initiatives in Meeting with Union Minister Darshana Vikram Jardosh
Northeast Desk, 26th December: Arunachal Pradesh’s Governor, Lt. General KT Parnaik, engaged in discussions with Union Minister of State for Textiles and Railways, Smt. Darshana Vikram Jardosh, to advance key initiatives in the textile sector and enhance railway services in the state during a meeting at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar.
Governor Parnaik emphasized the Industry Ministry’s pivotal role in strengthening the local industry ecosystem, particularly focusing on the vibrant textile segment. Recognizing Arunachali women’s significant involvement in textiles, he highlighted that the Ministry’s proactive approach would contribute to ‘Atmanirbhartha’ (self-reliance) among them.
Promoting traditional textiles of Arunachal Pradesh emerged as a crucial agenda, with Governor Parnaik advocating for the growth of micro and small enterprises as potential engines for employment, especially emphasizing women empowerment.
The meeting also addressed the need for improved railway services, catering to the substantial number of people, particularly tourists, relying on trains. Governor Parnaik suggested the initiation of ‘Goods train/bogies services’ to facilitate seamless transportation of goods, promoting the distribution of arts and crafts items across the country.
Union Minister Smt. Darshana Vikram Jardosh briefed the Governor on proposed railway projects and Textile Ministry initiatives aimed at promoting the textile industry. These include training programs and marketing strategies, fostering overall growth and sustainability in the sector.
