Arunachal Pradesh: Landslide Blocks NH-13 Highway, Stranding Travelers
Northeast Desk, 16th July: A landslide at Palizi village in West Kameng district has resulted in a blockade on the NH-13 highway connecting Arunachal’s Rupa and Seppa, leaving many travelers stranded. The incident occurred approximately 2 kilometers before reaching Palizi village, as rocks tumbled down a cliff due to heavy rains.
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu recently chaired a crucial high-level meeting on July 13 to assess the extensive damage caused by rain-triggered landslides and floods across the state. The natural calamities have severely disrupted surface communication to several districts, prompting urgent measures for restoration.
Chief Secretary Dharmendra and other key officials participated in the meeting, focusing on formulating swift strategies for statewide rehabilitation efforts. Emphasizing the urgency, Khandu stressed the critical importance of restoring road connectivity, particularly in flood-affected regions.
“The early restoration of roads disrupted by floods and landslides is vital to ensuring access to essential services and relief efforts,” remarked Chief Minister Khandu during the meeting.
Efforts are underway to clear the debris and restore traffic on NH-13, with authorities working diligently to mitigate the inconvenience caused to travelers and residents alike.
