Arunachal Pradesh Launches Agricultural Tech Initiative with Apple Picking Bonanza
Northeast Desk, 23rd August: The Government of Arunachal Pradesh has taken a significant step towards modernizing its agricultural sector with the launch of innovative technologies aimed at enhancing farm productivity. The Apple Picking Bonanza event, inaugurated today by Gabriel D. Wangsu, Minister of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, and Fisheries, alongside Koj Rinya, Secretary of Horticulture, and Tseten Chombay, MLA of the 5-Kalaktang Rupa assembly constituency, marks the beginning of this transformative initiative.
At the core of this initiative is the introduction of advanced drone technology and artificial intelligence to agriculture. The newly deployed drones are set to minimize the excessive use of water, pesticides, and herbicides, while maintaining soil fertility and boosting productivity. This technology aims to reduce manual labor and enhance farming efficiency.
A highlight of the event was the presentation of the Agri Bot, an advanced agricultural drone developed by Iotech from DroneTech Lab. This drone is equipped with precision farming capabilities, designed to optimize spraying and irrigation processes. The AI-driven drones will also enhance yield predictions, disease detection, and overall crop management.
Minister Gabriel D. Wangsu emphasized the significance of integrating modern technology with traditional farming practices to promote sustainable growth in Arunachal Pradesh’s horticulture sector. He also stressed the role of youth in these efforts, advocating for skill development and increased awareness.
MLA Tseten Chombay expressed appreciation for the contributions of Horticulturist Kirmar Lona and other officials in advancing agricultural technology. The initiative reflects a collaborative effort by farmers, entrepreneurs, and self-help groups to drive inclusive growth while preserving cultural heritage and embracing innovation.
