Arunachal Pradesh MLA Nabam Vivek Inaugurates Provisional ILP Counter at Gumto Check Gate
Northeast Desk, 2nd October: On October 2, Nabam Vivek, the 14-Doimukh MLA, inaugurated a provisional Inner Line Permit (ILP) counter at the Gumto check gate. This initiative aims to streamline the process for visitors seeking provisional ILPs, which will be issued for a duration of 15 days.
During the inauguration, Nabam Vivek emphasized the importance of this counter in facilitating easier access for visitors to obtain provisional ILPs. He highlighted the need for diligent verification of documents before issuing permits to ensure that anti-social elements do not infiltrate the district. “Care should be taken to issue the provisional ILPs after proper verification of documents,” he urged the officials present at the check gate, stressing the significance of maintaining vigilance.
Accompanying MLA Vivek were key officials including Papum Pare DC Jiken Bomjen, SDO Doimukh Kipa Raja, CO Gumto Afa Phassang, and OC Doimukh Simi Phassang, all of whom were instrumental in the establishment of this counter.
According to the Bengal Eastern Regulation Act of 1873, non-indigenous individuals are required to possess travel documents, specifically an Inner Line Permit, to enter Arunachal Pradesh. This law is in place to protect the tribal state and its indigenous populations.
