Arunachal Pradesh Organizes Mithun Health Camp to Boost Livestock Sector

Keyi-Panyor, Arunachal Pradesh: In a significant step towards promoting scientific Mithun rearing, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development in Arunachal Pradesh’s Keyi-Panyor district organized a comprehensive animal health and awareness camp.

The event, held in collaboration with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) – National Research Center on Mithun in Nagaland’s Medzipema, brought together experts and local Mithun farmers to share knowledge and best practices.

A team of eminent scientists from the NRC on Mithun, including Dr. Jayanta Kumar Chamuah, Dr. Y.M Somagond, and Dr. Plabita Goswami, graced the occasion. They emphasized the importance of adopting a semi-intensive farming system to ensure optimal growth and well-being of Mithuns.

The camp offered a range of services, including FMD vaccination, ear-tagging, serum and fecal sample collection. Dr. Lige Basar, SVO, Yachuli, highlighted the critical role of vaccination against Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) and urged farmers to prioritize this preventive measure.

To further support local farmers, high-quality medicines and mineral mixtures were distributed in the presence of veterinary officers Dr. Kime Gyati and Dr. Hiba Yana.

A total of 70 Mithun farmers benefited from the camp, which is expected to have a positive impact on the region’s livestock sector.
