Arunachal Pradesh Police Seize Cannabis Worth Rs 1.33 Crore in Major Operation
Itanagar: In a significant crackdown, authorities in Arunachal Pradesh’s West Kameng district have confiscated a large quantity of cannabis valued at approximately Rs 1.33 crore. The operation, conducted in Betchilling village within the Kalaktang police station jurisdiction, led to the seizure of 1,654.22 kg of the illegal substance.
Superintendent of Police Sudhansu Dhama confirmed that the confiscated goods included 108 rectangular packages, each weighing 10 kg, and 33 gunny bags containing 574.22 kg of cannabis. The recovery marks a major success in the ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking in the region.
The police also seized several pieces of specialized equipment, including a 50-ton hydraulic piston jack, a modified iron trunk and frame, and a weighing machine, which were reportedly used to compress and package the cannabis for transport.
A case has been registered, and the authorities are continuing their investigation to track down those behind the smuggling operation. The seizure is seen as a major blow to the illegal drug trade in the region, with police vowing to pursue further leads to apprehend the culprits.
