Arunachal Pradesh Police Strengthen Crackdown on Drug Trafficking
Arunachal: In a focused operation, Arunachal Pradesh police apprehended a suspected drug trafficker in East Siang district and seized 2.49 grams of heroin.
The arrest followed a tip-off that led authorities to Kadum Tatin, a 26-year-old resident of Pasighat. According to East Siang Superintendent of Police Pankaj Lamba, the contraband, valued at Rs. 3,000, was confiscated along with a mobile phone.
Tatin has been charged under Section 21(a) of the NDPS Act, with the case officially registered at Pasighat Police Station.
This action comes as part of a broader effort to combat the drug menace in Arunachal Pradesh. Earlier, on December 1, the Naharlagun Police dismantled an inter-state cannabis trafficking network, arresting Ganga Bahadur Thapa, 33, who allegedly smuggled cannabis from Assam for distribution within the Capital ICR. Under the leadership of SP Naharlagun Mihin Gambo and SDPO Rishi Longdo, officers raided Thapa’s residence near Kankarnallah Bridge, effectively shutting down a key distribution point.
These consecutive operations underscore the state’s heightened vigilance against narcotics trafficking, reflecting a determined push to safeguard communities from the adverse effects of drug abuse.
