Arunachal Pradesh Set for Power Boost as PGCIL Accelerates Remote Area Connectivity

Itanagar: In a significant stride towards energising Arunachal Pradesh’s farthest reaches, the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) is fast-tracking critical transmission infrastructure projects across the remote Lohit and Anjaw districts. This ambitious initiative is poised to dramatically enhance electricity supply, ensuring reliable energy access for residents in these strategically important border areas.

Recent discussions saw Minister Dasanglu Pul, holding portfolios for Women and Child Development, Science and Technology, and representing the Anjaw constituency as MLA, convene with Pradeep Kumar, the Chief General Manager (in-charge) of PGCIL. Their meeting delved into the progress of vital power lines, specifically the 132kV Tezu-Halaipani Line and the 33kV Halaipani-Hawai-Walong Line. Both are deemed indispensable for fortifying energy distribution in the region.

Minister Pul underscored the state government’s unwavering resolve in this regard, asserting, “Strengthening the power network in remote areas remains a top priority of the Government to ensure reliable and inclusive energy access across Arunachal Pradesh.” This aligns seamlessly with the broader governmental thrust to equip border towns with robust infrastructure, paving the way for sustainable development.

The high-level meeting also encompassed meticulous evaluations for upcoming projects, highlighting the imperative of comprehensive planning for efficient power distribution networks. The core objective remains to ensure that the infrastructure not only meets the current energy demands of local communities but also adequately supports future regional growth. Furthermore, discussions emphasised the crucial need for timely project execution and the judicious allocation of resources, recognising these as pivotal for the economic upliftment of these traditionally underserved areas.

These crucial infrastructure developments are an integral part of a larger strategic vision to elevate living standards and ignite economic prosperity in Arunachal Pradesh’s border regions. By bolstering the power supply network, the government aims to cultivate a more inclusive environment conducive to all-round progress and development. This forward-looking initiative is anticipated to usher in substantial improvements in the quality of life for residents, facilitating enhanced access to modern amenities and essential services.

The advancements in the power sector are designed to cater to immediate energy requirements while simultaneously laying a sturdy foundation for future growth. This reflects a deep-seated commitment to ensuring that even the most geographically challenging parts of India gain access to modern facilities and services, thereby effectively bridging the developmental chasm between urban and rural landscapes and fostering equitable progress across the nation.
