Arunachal Pradesh Shines at All India Pencak Silat Championship
Srinagar: Arunachal Pradesh’s martial arts prowess was on full display at the recently concluded 2nd All India Pencak Silat Championship 2024.
Held at the prestigious Sher Kashmir Indoor Sports Stadium in Srinagar from November 19 to 21, the state’s contingent of 17 senior athletes made their mark on the national stage.
The team’s stellar performance resulted in a haul of four medals. Jeevan Tara clinched gold in the under-45kg category, while Biki Yatang secured silver in the 50-55kg division. Nibi Dawe and Tali Rimo added bronze medals to the state’s tally in the 65-70kg and 55-60kg categories, respectively.
Kipa Takar, Assistant General Secretary of the Arunachal Pradesh Pencak Silat Association (APPSA), expressed his pride in the team’s achievement. He commended the athletes’ dedication and hard work, which contributed to their success at the national level.
The championship witnessed intense competition from athletes across India. Arunachal Pradesh’s strong showing is a testament to the growing popularity and development of Pencak Silat in the state.
