Arunachal Pradesh Shines at Junior Pencak Silat Championship

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh has once again made its mark on the national sporting stage. The state’s young and talented athletes have brought home a total of 8 medals, including 4 gold and 4 bronze, from the recently concluded Junior Pencak Silat Championship held in Srinagar.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu took to Twitter to express his delight at the state’s impressive performance. “Hearty congratulations to our young Pencak Silat athletes for their outstanding performance at the Junior National Championship. The state is proud of your achievements. Best wishes to the senior team as they prepare for the upcoming All India Championship,” he tweeted.

The gold medal winners from Arunachal Pradesh are Meko Liyak, Sartum Tara, Tarh Tyson, and Taba Takar. The bronze medals were won by Yani Nabam, Shanti Lochung, Mama Tok, and Baja Blange.

Pencak Silat, an Indonesian martial art, has been gaining popularity in India, especially in the northeastern states. Arunachal Pradesh, in particular, has emerged as a powerhouse in this sport, consistently producing top-level athletes.
