The startup’s participation underscores the increasing global recognition of Northeast India’s rich cultural heritage and the state’s burgeoning creative industries.
Gona Niji, incubated by the Arunachal Pradesh Innovation & Investment Park (APIIP), has quickly risen to prominence by blending traditional loom and handicraft techniques with contemporary fashion trends. The startup’s upcoming showcase in Istanbul aims to highlight the artisanal craftsmanship of Arunachal Pradesh on an international stage, bringing attention to the region’s unique cultural identity.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed his pride in the startup’s achievement through a tweet, emphasizing the importance of Gona Niji’s participation as a reflection of the state’s commitment to nurturing local talent. “Kamle to Istanbul – our startups are truly going global!” Khandu remarked, celebrating the international recognition that Gona Niji has garnered.
