Arunachal Pradesh to Install AI-Based CCTV Cameras at 22 Check Gates to Boost Security
Northeast Desk, 24th July: In a significant move to bolster security, Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Mama Natung announced on Tuesday the installation of AI-based CCTV cameras at 22 check gates throughout the state. This initiative aims to prevent the passage of undesirable elements and restricted items through crucial inter-state boundary points.
During the Assembly’s question hour, Natung addressed concerns raised by NCP member Likha Soni, confirming that all 30 check gates are currently under stringent supervision. The enhanced surveillance is designed to deter undesirable social elements and combat drug trafficking. Natung assured that the government remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring public safety and maintaining effective infrastructure at these key entry points.
Regarding the Dirak check gate in Namsai district, operational since 1989, Natung highlighted its robust infrastructure, including three sentry posts managed by the CRPF and state police, and the presence of CCTV cameras for comprehensive monitoring.
The minister also addressed infrastructure concerns at the Pumao Circle police station in Longding district, which borders Nagaland. Although upgrades have been delayed due to land availability issues, Natung noted that a development proposal is under review.
In response to manpower shortages, the state Cabinet has sanctioned 3,000 additional police personnel posts, further strengthening the state’s security framework.
