Arunachal Pradesh to Introduce Ropeway and Electric Buses in Itanagar
Northeast, August 14 — The Arunachal Pradesh government is set to enhance urban transport infrastructure in Itanagar with the introduction of a ropeway system and electric buses. Mayor Tamme Phassang of Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) announced that discussions for the ropeway project are nearing completion, with talks involving companies from Hyderabad and Gujarat.
The proposed ropeway will provide a scenic and efficient transport route connecting Lobi in Division 4, the Secretariat, Ganga Market, and Chimpu. This initiative aims to ease city traffic and improve connectivity.
Additionally, the IMC is working with Arunachal Pradesh State Transport Services (APSTS) to introduce 10 electric buses in Itanagar, with plans for future expansion depending on the success of initial trials.
These projects reflect the IMC’s commitment to modernizing transportation and promoting sustainable urban mobility in the capital city.
