Arunachal Pradesh to Resume Recruitment of Administrative Officers Following APPSC Paper Leak Case, Says CM Pema Khandu

Northeast Desk, 25th July: Chief Minister Pema Khandu acknowledged a shortage of administrative officers across various districts in Arunachal Pradesh, attributing the recruitment halt to the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) paper leak case in 2022. He assured that recruitments would resume soon, following the reconstitution of the commission.

During a session in the state assembly, responding to senior BJP MLA Wanglin Lowangdong’s query, Khandu revealed that the recruitment for Arunachal Pradesh Civil Service (APCS) entry-grade officers is imminent. The government plans to address the shortfall of officers and fill sanctioned posts systematically.

“Out of the total sanctioned strength of 236 entry-grade officers, there are currently only 130 officers in position, leaving a deficit of 106 officers in the rank of Circle Officers (COs). Due to the APPSC paper leak, there have been no new recruitments or lateral entries for the past two years. The government will fill these vacancies once the recruitment process starts,” Khandu stated.

In response to a supplementary question, Khandu highlighted that the Tirap district, which borders Myanmar and Nagaland, has only eight officers out of the 17 sanctioned posts. He assured that once the recruitment process is underway, officers will be appointed to these critical positions to ensure proper administrative functioning.
