Arunachal Pradesh’s Dibang Multipurpose Project: A Landmark for Renewable Energy and Environmental Sustainability

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh’s Forest and Environment Minister Wangki Lowang, along with Dambuk MLA Puinnyo Apum, PCCF (IFS) HoFF P. Subramanyam, and DFO Roing, visited the site of the 2880 MW Dibang Multipurpose Project, a major hydropower initiative by NHPC Ltd. Upon reviewing the project’s progress, Lowang emphasized its significant role in sustainable development.

“The Dibang Multipurpose Project will not only generate clean energy but also help mitigate downstream flooding in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, while contributing significantly to water conservation,” stated Lowang.

The project is poised to become one of India’s largest hydropower facilities and is expected to be a key contributor to the nation’s renewable energy efforts. It reflects Arunachal Pradesh’s commitment to balanced growth, where ecological preservation aligns with national development goals. Once completed, it will serve as a milestone in India’s drive for renewable energy and environmental sustainability.
