Yazali — In a historic move for space education in India’s Northeast, a state-of-the-art Space Education Lab was inaugurated at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Yazali, marking the first such facility in Arunachal Pradesh.
Established through a collaborative effort between ISRO Space Tutor and VYOMIKA Space Academy, the lab aims to cultivate scientific curiosity and inspire students in Keyi Panyor and beyond.
Education Minister PD Sona, who led the inauguration, lauded the facility as a pioneering educational asset that would ignite an interest in space sciences among young learners. “This lab represents a bold step forward in equipping our students with knowledge and skills that connect them to India’s growing space achievements,” Sona remarked.
During his first visit to Arunachal Pradesh, Dr. Nilesh Desai, Director of ISRO’s Space Applications Centre, underscored India’s strides in space exploration and emphasized the importance of early education in the field. “The establishment of this lab aligns with our mission to bring the marvels of space closer to every corner of the country,” Desai said.
District Commissioner Shweta Nagarkoti Mehta, who spearheaded the project, spoke of her vision to make advanced scientific resources accessible to local youth, saying, “This lab is the culmination of years of planning to enrich educational experiences and nurture a scientific outlook among students in Keyi Panyor.”
In addition to the lab’s inauguration, the ceremony also marked the opening of the Superintending Engineer’s office for the Rural Works Department in Yachuli, highlighting Keyi Panyor’s progress as one of the state’s youngest districts. Local MLA Toko Tatung praised the district’s rapid development and the government’s commitment to bolstering educational and infrastructure projects.
