Arunachal: Pradip Lingfa Assumes Role as New Chairman of APPSC

Northeast Desk, 13th December: The Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) on December 12, 2023 underwent a significant reorganization. Following the state cabinet’s assembly led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Professor Pradip Lingfa emerged as the newly appointed chairman of the APPSC.

This decision resulted from a meticulous assessment of recommendations put forth by a selection committee and the ruling of the Itanagar Permanent Bench of the Gauhati High Court. Joining Prof Lingfa, the commission welcomed Professor Ashan Riddi, Colonel (Retd) Koj Tari, and Rosy Taba as its newly appointed members.

The tenure of these appointments is stipulated for six years or until the appointees reach the age of 62, as outlined in the directive issued by the Administrative Reforms Department. The swearing-in ceremony for the newly appointed chairman and members is scheduled to be administered by the governor of Arunachal Pradesh at Raj Bhawan.

This restructuring holds particular significance for the APPSC, notably in the aftermath of the AE question paper leakage scandal that garnered public attention on August 29, 2022. Investigated by the SIC, the scandal exposed a pervasive conspiracy, resulting in several arrests.

The reconstitution of the APPSC is poised to address the demands of various organizations and streamline the recruitment process for diverse employee categories. This endeavor aims to reinstate the commission’s functionality and credibility, marking a crucial step forward.
