Arunachal: Protesters Tear Down Banners Bearing Image of CM Pema Khandu
Guwahati: Violence erupted during the ongoing bandh in Itanagar of Arunachal as a result of the protesting students’ violation of Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code on February 17.
There are several footage of the incidents that show that everything has stopped at National Highway (NH) 52 which runs through Itanagar.
In the video, protesters can be seen tearing down flags in the town that featured the image of Arunachal Chief Minister Prem Khandu.
The videos clearly demonstrate that the protesters have completely blocked the road and are freely moving along it while holding sticks in their hands.
Meanwhile, local police are attempting to maintain order and are forbidding demonstrators from marching through the town.
Candidates for the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) have requested a bandh from 5 AM on February 17, 2023.
On the other hand, the Executive Magistrates were deployed to preserve peace and order in various areas of the Capital Complex in response to calls for an indefinite bandh made by some people or organisations, and Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code was implemented on February 16.
It is important to note that on February 16, Itanagar people staged rally of the public and prospective candidates as they launched their campaign against the Arunachal APPSC paper leak fraud.
The Pan Arunachal Join Steering Committee (PAJSC) noticed a widespread protest against APPSC paper leakage scams and asserted that these scams killed many potential and deserving candidates who were trying to get into the state’s top recruiting agency.
The huge gathering which included members of the general public from all walks of life was taken from Akashdeep to Tennis Court Itanagar.
