Arunachal Receives Rs 217.19 Crore for State Cancer Institute at Midpu

Northeast Desk, 14th June: The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) has earmarked Rs 217.19 crore for the establishment of a State Cancer Institute in Midpu, Doimukh, ICR, Arunachal Pradesh. This funding will facilitate the development of a modern 76-bed cancer treatment center, in collaboration with Dr B Borooah Cancer Institute in Guwahati and Tata Memorial Centre in Mumbai.

Expressing gratitude, Chief Minister Pema Khandu acknowledged the MDoNER ministry’s substantial allocation, emphasizing the institute’s future role in providing advanced cancer care locally. He highlighted that the facility will alleviate the burden on cancer patients, who currently travel long distances for specialized treatment.

“When operational, the Centre will greatly benefit our cancer patients, eliminating the need for them to seek treatment far from home. Together, let us combat the scourge of cancer!” Khandu affirmed, underlining the institute’s mission to enhance healthcare accessibility in Arunachal Pradesh.
