Arunachal: Seven Homes Gutted in Siang Blaze

Itanagar: A devastating fire swept through the Kaying area of Siang district, Arunachal Pradesh, on Monday afternoon, destroying at least seven houses and leaving multiple families displaced. The inferno, which reportedly ignited around 2:45 PM, originated from a gas stove inadvertently left burning in the kitchen of one of the residences, where an elderly woman had reportedly fallen asleep.

The flames, fuelled by dry conditions, rapidly engulfed neighbouring structures, causing extensive damage to the residential cluster. Swift action by the authorities saw two fire tenders dispatched from Aalo in the neighbouring West Siang district. Their timely arrival and dedicated efforts were crucial in bringing the raging blaze under control, preventing further escalation.

Thankfully, no casualties have been reported in the incident, a testament to the quick response and evacuation efforts. However, the material loss is significant, with property estimated to be worth several lakhs of rupees reduced to ashes. The affected families have since been relocated to the Kaying Upper Primary School, which has been repurposed as a temporary relief shelter to provide them with immediate assistance and accommodation.
