Arunachal: Three Students Dead and Two Critical After Water Tank Burst at St. Alphonsa School

Guwahati: A tragic incident unfolded at St. Alphonsa School in Model Village today, leaving three students dead and two critically injured.

During school hours, a water tank burst, causing a nearby wall to collapse. The debris struck several students playing on the school grounds, resulting in fatal injuries to three ninth-grade students.

The injured students were immediately transported to Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS), where they are currently receiving intensive care.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Rishi Longdo addressed the media, stating that the incident appears to be a result of negligence on the part of school authorities. Six individuals, including the principal, warden, and four staff members, have been detained for questioning.

The school premises have been sealed off as a precautionary measure, and police presence has been increased to manage potential protests from concerned parents and community members. Authorities have assured a thorough investigation into the cause of the tank’s collapse and vowed to bring those responsible to justice.
