Arunachal: Tomo Riba Institute Achieves Medical Milestone with Complex Jaw Surgery
Itanagar: The Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) in Arunachal Pradesh has successfully performed the state’s first bi-jaw orthognathic surgery. This intricate procedure, involving Lefort I osteotomy and bilateral sagittal split osteotomy, was conducted to correct jaw discrepancies by repositioning the jaw to achieve functional and cosmetic alignment.
The surgery was meticulously planned and executed by the maxillofacial surgery team at TRIHMS, showcasing the institute’s growing capabilities in advanced medical interventions. Dr Hibu Dora, an orthodontist, played a crucial role in pre-operative planning, determining the precise new position of the jaw. The final surgical procedure was carried out under the leadership of Dr Luksi Jilen, Assistant Professor at TRIHMS.
The success of this surgery marks a significant milestone for Arunachal Pradesh, enhancing the availability of complex procedures locally. Orthognathic surgery, requiring high expertise, is a notable procedure that corrects jaw discrepancies, improving both function and aesthetics. By providing such procedures locally, TRIHMS aims to reduce the financial burden on patients who previously had to seek treatment outside the state.
The availability of orthognathic surgery at TRIHMS is expected to benefit many patients requiring corrective surgeries. These procedures, often expensive in other locations, are now accessible at TRIHMS, allowing patients to receive care without incurring additional travel costs. This development showcases the institute’s commitment to expanding its services and improving healthcare outcomes for the local population.
The successful completion of this surgery highlights TRIHMS’s potential for further advancements and specialized medical procedures. As the healthcare landscape in Arunachal Pradesh continues to evolve, residents can expect more breakthroughs that will improve medical outcomes and accessibility. The initiative by TRIHMS to provide advanced surgical procedures is a testament to the growing healthcare capabilities in the state.
