Arunachal Triumphs at National Hand-to-Hand Fighting Sports Championship
Northeast Desk, July 30, 2024 — Arunachal Pradesh has emerged victorious at the 4th National Hand-to-Hand Fighting Sports Championship, clinching the Overall Team Championship title. The event, held over the weekend, saw the state’s athletes deliver an outstanding performance, securing a total of 12 medals, including five golds.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed his pride in the athletes’ achievements, stating on social media, “The state is proud of your achievement. Best wishes for future endeavours.”
The gold medals were awarded to:
- Joram Khope (90kg)
- Jaanson Takha Tassar (80kg)
- Langpu Takio (70kg) in self-defence
- Bamang Gungte (67kg) and Bamang Tabang (62kg) in fighting
The state’s success also included silver medals for Tassar Angelus Maku (80kg) and Ruhi Maching (75kg) in self-defence, and bronze medals for Byabang Sakap, Bamang Losik, Hina Prasar, Likha Tamin in self-defence, and Loa Kaku in fighting.
Arunachal Pradesh’s team, guided by coach Tassar Tite and manager Giogi Tagi, competed against athletes from 16 other states and union territories.
