Arunachal: Two workers abducted by armed NSCN (K-YA) militants from Longding district released

Northeast Desk, 29th November: In a welcomed turn of events, the two workers abducted by armed cadres of the militant group NSCN (K-YA) have been released. The victims, identified as Sashank Kumar Yadav (Junior Engineer) and Liamgao PANSA supervisor, were abducted near Tisa River in Longding district on November 16 and regained their freedom on November 28.

Preliminary reports suggest that the abduction took place at a makeshift labour camp, and the victims were transported to Kunno zero point in a Bolero pickup truck. The armed cadres, identified as Ss Lt.Col Botai Wangsu and Ss Lt.Abojak Wangnow of NSCN K-YA faction, allegedly proceeded towards the Indo-Myanmar border after disengaging the vehicle at Kunno.

Both victims were employed under Shatrughan Singh of the BTRF Project. The release of the abducted workers brings relief to the community and underscores the challenges faced in regions affected by militancy. Authorities are expected to investigate further into the incident to ensure the safety and security of the affected workers.
