Northeast Desk, 22nd January: The D. Ering Memorial Wildlife Sanctuary Division, in collaboration with the Eco-Development Committee of D. Ering WLS and Miijing Sirum of Borguli village, organized a mass awareness program on wildlife protection and man-animal conflict. The initiative aimed to educate Gaon Burahs (village headmen) from fringe villages of the sanctuary about the threats to wildlife from hunters.

Tayi Taggu, Deputy Commissioner of Pasighat, emphasized the need for public support in wildlife conservation and the co-existence of humans and wildlife for a healthy ecosystem. Chief Wildlife Warden Nyilyang Tam discussed compensation for those affected by wild animal crop raids or losses due to man-animal conflicts. Representatives from Adi Baane Kebang highlighted the economic benefits of wildlife conservation.

The awareness program became particularly crucial following recent hunting incidents in the Borguli wildlife range and Sibiyamukh Wildlife range, reinforcing the importance of such initiatives in protecting the rich flora and fauna of the sanctuary.
