Arunachal Witnesses Striking Economic Growth Under CM Pema Khandu’s Leadership
Northeast Desk, 17th February: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu revealed on February 17 a staggering surge of 105% in the state’s per capita income from the fiscal year 2015-2016 to 2023-2024. This remarkable leap underscores the significant strides made in economic development and underscores the effectiveness of strategic budget allocations towards fostering comprehensive growth.
Emphasizing his administration’s unwavering commitment to the welfare and advancement of the people of Arunachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Khandu credited increased budget allocations as the cornerstone for propelling growth across various sectors within the state.
Expressing profound satisfaction at the noteworthy achievement, Chief Minister Khandu cited it as a source of motivation to persist in efforts towards the comprehensive development of Arunachal Pradesh.
The announcement comes amid the two-day budget session of the Arunachal Pradesh assembly, which commenced on February 8, marking a pivotal moment for the state’s fiscal landscape. Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, entrusted with the portfolios of Finance, Planning & Investment, showcased adept leadership, leading to a remarkable 137% increase in the annual budget, with steadfast support from Chief Minister Pema Khandu.
Addressing the assembly, Chief Minister Khandu lauded the collaborative efforts aimed at prioritizing development aligned with the state’s ‘Saptarshi’ agenda during the transformative ‘Amrit Kaal’. He highlighted numerous accomplishments achieved by the Government of Arunachal Pradesh (GoAP), including achieving the lowest mortality rates nationwide with a consistent recovery rate exceeding 99% and institutional reforms such as the reformation of the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board.
Additionally, the GoAP’s initiatives encompassed pioneering endeavors such as the adoption of climate-tagged budgeting subsequent to the historic ‘Pakke Declaration’, the introduction of the National Pension System (NPS), and the establishment of state-of-the-art teleconsultation hubs at TRIHMS, Naharlagun, and BPGH, Pasighat.
