Arunachal: Woman Arrested in Drug Bust at Grocery Shop in Naharlagun
Northeast Desk, 7th August: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, a joint operation by local women’s groups and police flying squads led to the arrest of a woman selling drugs from her grocery shop. The woman, from the Doke clan of the Galo tribe, was apprehended after an investigation revealed that her shop was a front for her husband’s illicit drug smuggling activities.
The arrest was made following a coordinated search conducted by the women’s group and Naharlagun police. Despite the successful arrest, the woman’s husband managed to evade capture.
Local residents have voiced alarm over the proliferation of drug sales through small grocery shops in the area, attributing the rise in drug addiction and related criminal activities to these operations.
