Arunachal Women’s Commission Demands Action Against Influencer Elvish Yadav for Racist Remarks
Guwahati: The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) has called for immediate action against social media influencer Elvish Yadav for making racially insensitive comments about Chum Darang, a former Miss Arunachal and a finalist on the reality show Bigg Boss 18.
In a letter to the Chairperson of the National Commission for Women, APSCW Chairperson Kenjum Pakam strongly condemned Yadav’s derogatory remarks, stating that they not only insulted Ms. Darang but also deeply offended the entire women’s society of Northeast India.
The commission emphasized that Yadav’s comments, widely circulated on social media, have severely tarnished the reputation of Chum Darang and have created a negative and harmful image of women from the region.
The APSCW further expressed concern that such behavior fosters a climate of fear and intimidation among women from the Northeast who aspire to careers in the entertainment industry, particularly in Bollywood.
They emphasized that these discriminatory remarks can marginalize and discourage women from pursuing their dreams.
The commission has demanded that the National Commission for Women take suo moto cognizance of this matter and ensure justice is served to Chum Darang and the entire Northeast Indian community.
