Arunachal: WWO Voices Key Market Reforms at Coordination Meet in Seppa

Itanagar: The Arunachal-based Women Welfare Organisation (WWO) made a strong and proactive presence at a mass coordination meeting-cum-interaction programme hosted by the Bazar Welfare Committee at Nyedar Namlo, Seppa. The gathering, which included the Deputy Commissioner of Seppa, EKSCWO General Secretary Kasung Cheda, local entrepreneurs, vendors, and members of the public, served as a vital platform for discussing pressing concerns affecting the town’s marketplace and its stakeholders.

Sita Waii Gyadi, President of WWO, addressed the forum with a compelling list of concerns aimed at ensuring fair practices, public safety, and improved infrastructure in the town’s commercial hubs. She called for a strict ban on monopoly practices by individual suppliers who control significant portions of the market, leading to inflated prices and a lack of healthy competition. Stressing the importance of equity, she also demanded an end to the current rotation system in slaughterhouses, citing the need for transparency and equal opportunity for all.

To enhance safety and accountability in the market, Gyadi proposed the installation of CCTV cameras in shops. She also raised the issue of inadequate parking spaces, urging authorities to develop organized parking zones to ease congestion and improve access for shoppers and vendors.

Further, WWO respectfully appealed to the Chamber of Commerce to function strictly within its jurisdiction and refrain from interfering in the internal workings of the Bazar Welfare Committee, reinforcing the importance of maintaining institutional boundaries.

WWO’s participation underscored its commitment to promoting the welfare of women and the broader market community in Seppa. Their clear, solution-oriented demands reflected a strong grassroots effort to build a more transparent, safe, and inclusive commercial environment.
