Arunachal: Ziro Literary Festival Kicks Off 5th Edition with Outdoor Celebration of Creativity

Northeast Desk, 25th September: The 5th Ziro Literary Festival (ZLF) commenced on Tuesday, September 24, at Saint Claret College, Ziro (SCCZ) in Lower Subansiri district. The two-day event, themed “Celebrating Creativity for All,” is organised in partnership with SCCZ, PWLO Entertainment, and the Lower Subansiri district administration, coinciding with the renowned Ziro Festival of Music.

For the first time, the festival is being held outdoors, enhancing the creative atmosphere for participants. The event features a lineup of panel discussions, workshops, and talks aimed at inspiring students and fostering intellectual growth.

At the inauguration, Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner Vivek HP praised the festival for promoting creativity and offering young people a platform to explore literature, arts, and culture. He encouraged active participation, emphasising the role such events play in shaping young talent.

The festival opened with a talk by Urvashi Butalia on “Changing the narrative on women’s writing and publishing,” followed by an engaging discussion between Appupen and Anand Ramachandran on the intersection of comics and gaming. A panel on “All Things Gaming: Storytelling, Design, Development, and the Future” featuring Anand Ramachandran and Loyievi Vikennao, moderated by Sameer Pitalwalla, delved into the gaming industry’s impact on storytelling.

A powerful discussion on overcoming adversity, led by the Teesta Troupers and moderated by Karma Paljor, explored the resilience of small-town artists. The day’s creative energy culminated with a poetry session by Siddhartha Menon and live performances by Saniya MQ and the Teesta Troupers.

Leading up to the festival, SCCZ hosted workshops on storytelling, poetry, and filmmaking, enhancing students’ artistic skills. The event is set to continue, providing an engaging platform for creative expression.
