Arunachal’s Dibang Valley Seeds the Future with Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan Launch

Itanagar: In a significant stride towards empowering its agricultural backbone, the remote Gipulin village in Arunachal Pradesh’s Dibang Valley district today witnessed the official launch of the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA). This pivotal initiative, designed to foster sustainable farming and bolster farmers’ earnings, was inaugurated amidst much anticipation and a clear vision for the region’s agrarian prosperity.

The ceremonial launch was graced by the august presence of Women & Child Development and Science & Technology Minister, Dasanglu Pul, who underscored the government’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of the farming community. She was joined by local MLA and Tourism Advisor Mopi Mihu, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Theko Tayu, and Deputy Commissioner Pagli Sora, signifying a collective resolve. Senior scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Anini, alongside heads of various government departments, also participated, lending their expertise and support to the groundbreaking programme.

A tangible manifestation of the Abhiyan’s objectives, the Minister meticulously distributed vital soil health cards and high-quality hybrid seeds to the eager farmers. This act reinforced the central government’s vigorous push towards embracing scientific and environmentally conscious farming methodologies. Adding to the dynamism of the event, two ‘Krishi Raths’ – specially equipped mobile units – were flagged off. These vehicles are poised to traverse the region, serving as vital conduits for educating, informing, and inspiring farmers to adopt cutting-edge agricultural techniques, bringing knowledge right to their doorsteps.

The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan, a brainchild of the Union Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, is not merely a regional endeavour but a nationwide movement. Its overarching goals are meticulously structured to usher in a new era for Indian agriculture: to dramatically double farmers’ income, to disseminate comprehensive awareness about crucial central agricultural schemes, and to ensure that essential agricultural services and expert advisories are readily accessible at the very doorsteps of every farmer. This comprehensive campaign truly embodies the Centre’s expansive vision for cultivating a self-reliant and technologically advanced agricultural sector, reaching even the most far-flung corners of India.
