Arunachal’s Indigenous Faith Nyubu Nyvgam Yerko School Celebrates 4th Nyokum Yullo

Itanagar: The 4th Nyokum Yullo celebration at the Indigenous Faith Nyubu Nyvgam Yerko School in MWYA, Deed Circle, emphasized the importance of preserving cultural roots.

The event was led by former BJP President and former Advisor to the Chief Minister, Tai Tagak, and graced by Likha Bida, Principal of Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy, Itanagar, as the Guest of Honour.

Tai Tagak stressed the significance of staying connected to one’s cultural heritage, highlighting the role of the Nyubu Nyvgam Yerko in preserving and promoting Arunachal Pradesh’s indigenous culture and traditions. The school, inaugurated on January 14, 2023, provides quality education to tribal children, integrating modern CBSE-based education with indigenous teachings, values, and cultural practices ¹.

For the academic year 2024, the school has enrolled 75 students. Likha Bida expressed his appreciation for such initiatives, stating that the school will serve as a platform for tribal children to learn and understand their cultural roots. The celebration showcased indigenous prayers, songs, and dances, and Nyishi proverbs, reflecting the deep cultural significance of the occasion.

Tagak reiterated the state government’s commitment to establishing more gurukuls and heritage centres to safeguard indigenous traditions. The celebration highlighted the crucial role of indigenous educational institutions in nurturing future generations while maintaining the essence of Arunachal Pradesh’s tribal heritage.
