Arunachal’s Naharlagun Roads to See Relief: Minister Vows Action on Congestion
Itanagar: Naharlagun’s notorious traffic snarls, especially around the bustling Sunday Market, are finally on the government’s radar. Urban Affairs and Civil Aviation Minister Balo Raja today conducted a thorough inspection of the area surrounding the Naharlagun Helipad, signalling a strong commitment to easing the daily commute for residents.
The Minister wasn’t alone in his crucial fact-finding mission. He was joined by Itanagar MLA and Advisor to the Minister for Urban Affairs, Shri Techi Kaso, alongside Itanagar Capital Region’s Deputy Commissioner Talo Potom, Director of Civil Aviation, and a host of senior officials from the Public Works Department (PWD), Urban Development, and Civil Aviation Departments. The high-level delegation underscores the seriousness with which authorities are approaching the long-standing issue.
The focus of the inspection was crystal clear: find tangible solutions to the persistent vehicular congestion that plagues the Sunday Market stretch. Road widening has emerged as a top priority, identified as the most effective immediate measure to ensure smoother traffic flow and eliminate frustrating bottlenecks that commuters face daily.
Speaking to the media after the comprehensive tour, Minister Balo Raja minced no words in reiterating the government’s dedication. “We are taking the matter seriously. Timely and effective action will be taken to ensure improved road infrastructure in the larger interest of the public,” he affirmed, instilling hope among the beleaguered residents. Authorities have confirmed that inter-departmental coordination and follow-up actions are already in motion, with planning and execution phases slated to kick off at the earliest.
