Arunachal’s Sporting Horizon Expands with New Multi-Purpose Hall Inauguration

Itanagar: A significant leap forward for sports development in Arunachal Pradesh materialized on May 3rd, as Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya officially opened a state-of-the-art multi-purpose hall within the Kamle district. This initiative underscores the government’s determined focus on fostering inclusive athletic growth, with a particular emphasis on empowering remote communities.

The newly unveiled facility, constructed with an investment of Rs 8 crore sourced from central government funds, is poised to revolutionize grassroots sports training in the region. It is designed to serve as a pivotal hub, providing essential infrastructure and specialized training platforms for aspiring athletes.

This modern hall boasts comprehensive amenities, facilitating a diverse range of indoor sports including boxing, badminton, judo, wushu, karate, taekwondo, weightlifting, table tennis, and volleyball. This comprehensive setup aims to equip young talents with the necessary tools to pursue professional athletic careers, enabling them to compete at both national and international levels.

“Arunachal Pradesh possesses a wealth of untapped potential, and through the establishment of such facilities, we are committed to creating pathways for our youth to excel in sports and contribute meaningfully to the nation,” articulated Mandaviya in a released statement, highlighting the project’s broader vision.

During his visit, Minister Mandaviya engaged directly with local youth and athletes, urging them to maximize the hall’s resources for their personal and professional advancement. He also emphasized the critical role of integrating fitness, sports, and discipline into daily routines for holistic development.

The inauguration ceremony was further graced by the presence of Arunachal Pradesh state ministers Kento Jini and Nyato Dukam, signifying the collaborative effort between the central and state governments in bolstering the region’s sporting infrastructure.
