Arvind Kejriwal Withdraws Petition from Supreme Court Regarding Arrest by Enforcement Directorate

National Desk, 22nd March: In a recent development, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has decided to retract his petition from the Supreme Court challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy case.

Despite the Special Bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna, MM Sundresh, and Bela M Trivedi being scheduled to deliberate on the plea, Senior Advocate Dr. Abhishek Manu Singhvi, representing Kejriwal, later informed Justice Sanjiv Khanna of his intention to withdraw the plea and instead focus on challenging the remand.

Justice Khanna responded by granting Singhvi leave to withdraw the petition.

Earlier in the day, the same bench had declined to entertain the bail plea of BRS leader K Kavitha, also arrested in the Delhi liquor policy case, directing her to seek bail from the trial court.

Furthermore, the bench had previously dismissed Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren’s plea against his arrest by the ED, advising him to approach the High Court. It is anticipated that the AAP leader will be presented in a Delhi court today for his remand.
