Guwahati is reeling from a brutal stabbing that occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning in Ganeshguri’s Punjabi Gali, leaving a young woman critically injured and the community in shock.
Locals out for their morning walk made the grim discovery, finding the woman in a pool of blood by the roadside. Dispur Police were immediately notified and swiftly transported the victim to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). Doctors at GMCH have confirmed she is now stable and out of danger, despite sustaining serious head and leg injuries.
Preliminary police investigations point to the attack happening late on Friday night. In connection with the incident, Raju Barman, a Rapido driver, has been arrested. However, the exact sequence of events and the motive behind this shocking crime remain under active investigation.
In a dramatic turn of events, the victim has provided a statement to the police, alleging that the true assailant was Nikki Boro, whom she claims is the girlfriend of the arrested accused. While police have not yet corroborated Nikki Boro’s involvement, they are seriously considering the possibility of a personal dispute or a love triangle as a potential motive for the assault.
A senior police officer from Dispur PS stated, “We are examining all angles, including the involvement of other individuals. Statements are being recorded, and forensic evidence is being collected.” Authorities have intensified their efforts to unravel the full circumstances surrounding this violent assault.
