Sports Desk, 4th October: On the 11th day of the ongoing Asian Games 2023, India’s Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Ojas Deotale started the morning on a triumphant note by clinching the gold in the archery compound mixed team event.
They secured their victory by narrowly defeating the South Korean pair of So Chaewon and Joo Jaehoon with a score of 159-158 at the Fuyang Yinhu Sports Centre Final Field.
In addition to their impressive performance, Jyothi and Ojas played a crucial role in India achieving a historic milestone, as this victory marked India’s 71st medal at the Asian Games, surpassing their previous record of 70 medals from the 2018 Jakarta Games.
Furthermore, India equaled their best gold medal count of 16, matching the achievement set four years ago.
