Guwahati: A revelation was made by the accused of the Dimpal Kumapati murder case that took place in Guwahati’s Uzanbazar area recently. The accused claimed that he had killed Dimpal because she allegedly smoked a cigarette.
The accused was identified as Abhishek Gupta alias Asik. What can be termed as more shocking was that the victim was the cousin sister of the accused and was just 14 years old.
Gupta claimed that they had an argument over the issue of Dimpal smoking and this later led to a physical fight between them. Gupta with this going on took a grinding stone and hit her on the head. He had also allegedly stabbed her with a knife. With her being in a critical condition, he fled the spot.
He was arrested the next day by the police.
However, Dimpal’s mother had claimed that her daughter does not smoke and also alleged that the entire case might be something related to a mobile phone. She told the media that the scuffle might have been over the mobile that Dimpal was using. The accused used the mobile phone frequently as he was staying with the family over the past few days.
The accused has now been forwarded to police custody by the CJM court.
