Asom Gana Parishad Nominates Diptimoyee Choudhury for Assam Assembly By-Polls

Assam – The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has officially announced the nomination of Diptimoyee Choudhury as its candidate for the upcoming Assembly by-elections in Assam.

Diptimoyee is the wife of Phani Bhushan Choudhury, a Member of Parliament (MP) from Barpeta and a former MLA representing the Bongaigaon Assembly constituency.

The by-elections will be conducted on November 13 for several constituencies, including Bongaigaon, Sidli, Behali, Samaguri, and Dholai. The counting of votes is scheduled for November 23.

Key dates related to the election process include the issuance of the Gazette Notification on October 18, the last date for filing nomination papers on October 25, and the scrutiny of these papers on October 28. Candidates will have the opportunity to withdraw their nominations by October 30.

In addition to AGP’s nomination, the Congress party has also moved forward in the by-election race, approving the candidacies of four candidates for the Legislative Assemblies of Assam. Dhrubajyoti Purakayastha will contest in Dholai, Sanjib Warle in Sidli, Brajenjit Sinha in Bongaigaon, and Tanzil Hussain in Samaguri.

The upcoming by-polls are expected to be closely contested, with various parties vying for voter support in a politically significant period for the state.
