Assam: 1 Bangladeshi national, 3 Indian held for cattle smuggling in Dhing

Guwahati, 8th August: In a significant breakthrough, one suspected Bangladeshi nationals has been arrested by Assam Police from Nagaon district of the state.

The arrestee has been identified as Humayun Kabir, a resident of Sylhet district in Bangladesh.

As per sources, Kabir was arrested while he was buying cows in the local market in Dhing.

Sources further informed that Kabir had entered Indian Territory without valid documentation and through Meghalaya’s Dawki on August 4 this year.

Upon searching, Kabir was caught with a mobile handset along with two Bangladeshi SIM cards, indicating his illegal activities.

Kabir is further accused of entering Assam with the intention of cattle smuggling.

On further investigating with the case, Assam police also arrested three Indian nationals from Khatowal Village under Bajiagaon Tehsil.

The arrested Indian nationals have been identified as Abul Hossain, Mukbul Hossain, and Motibur Rahman.

It has further learned that nine cattle purchased by Kabir have also been seized by the police officials.

It needs to mention that cow smuggling to Bangladesh through the Northeast has become a common occurrence and a large number of illegal cattle traders of the northeast are making huge profits from it.
