Assam: 1 injured as miscreants open fire; 2 arrested in Kokrajhar
Guwahati: In a major breakthrough, Assam Police arrested two persons in the firing incident that took place at Serfanguri in Kokrajhar district of Assam on Saturday evening.
The two arrestees identified as Uttam Roy and Mridul Roy. Both of them have been arrested for interrogation by the police.
According to reports, two unidentified bike-borne miscreants opened fire upon a small businessman identified as Sunil Mandal in the Narabari area at around 8:30 pm on Saturday. Mandal was in his shop at the time of the incident.
The victim was taken to the Lower Assam Hospital in Bongaigaon for treatment after suffering significant chest injuries.
Meanwhile, Sunil Mandal’s son Manoj Mandal said that on May 27, an unknown caller requested Rs 2 lakhs from his father.
He said, “On May 27, someone contacted us and demanded Rs 2 lakhs. The whole call recording has been preserved. On the same day, I filed a FIR with the Serfanguri police station, but no action was taken by the officers.”
Speaking on the incident he said, “My father was sitting in our store adjacent to our house yesterday when two boys who came on a bike shot on my father. He got hurt and was sent to the hospital right away.”
