Assam: 1 Killed, Another Injured In Elephant Attack in Chirang
Guwahati, 25th November: Man-elephant conflict seems to be continuing in the state as on Friday night one person was trampled to death while another sustained severe injuries by a herd of elephants in Chirang district of Assam.
As per sources, the incident took place while they were guarding the crops from the wild animals under Santipur Police Station.
Following the incident, both of them were immediately shifted to JSB CIVIL Hospital, Kajalgaon for further medical attention. However, one victim succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
The deceased has been identified as Bichon Narzary (36) while the injured has been identified as Tweet Narzary (48). Both of them are the residence of Chirang district.
Speaking to reporters, the villagers informed that elephant-human conflicts frequently occur. They expressed concern that the forest department has not addressed this issue.
Moreover, the villagers urged to the BTR government to intervene, halt the elephant-human conflict, and provide assistance to vulnerable families.
