Assam: 104-Year-Old Woman Makes Historic Vote in Barpeta Lok Sabha Constituency
Guwahati, 7th May: In a touching display of civic engagement, 104-year-old Haripriya Barua defied the odds and participated in the electoral process by casting her vote at New Deohati Primary School no. 262 in Abhayapuri assembly constituency, nestled within the Barpeta Lok Sabha constituency.
Emerging as a beacon of resilience and dedication to democracy, Barua’s journey to the polling station symbolized the enduring spirit of civic duty. Despite her advanced age and impaired vision, she stood tall amidst the bustling atmosphere of the polling station, underscoring the significance of active participation in the democratic process.
Expressing her joy at being part of the electoral process, Barua shared, “I am so happy. I am 104 years old. My vision is not clear, I always stay at home.”
