Guwahati: As many as 11 commercial buildings were burned in a massive fire that broke out in Assam’s Karimganj on Tuesday.
According to reports, the incident took place at Baliya market in the Karimganj district. After hearing about the incident, several fire tenders rushed to the scene.
Incident department representatives stated that they believe an electrical short circuit that occurred at a nearby tea shop is what started the fire.
The resulting fire quickly spread to 11 commercial buildings in the market area with early estimates indicating damages in the lakhs.
