Assam: 14-Year-Old Girl Rescued from Captivity in Margherita, Missing Child Case Raises Concerns

Margherita: A 14-year-old girl from Dimapur was rescued late Sunday night from a vacant house in the Bargolai area of Margherita. The girl had allegedly been held captive for two weeks by a 60-year-old man named Bikash, whose presence in the area remains unexplained, raising concerns among local residents.

The rescue operation was initiated by two vigilant youths, Prabhu Sai Horo and Raja Rao, who alerted the authorities about the suspicious situation. Margherita police and District Child Protection Officer Shyam Upadhyay promptly responded to the call and successfully rescued the girl from captivity.

In a separate incident reported from the Bashbari area of Bargolai, a 6-year-old boy has been reported missing, sparking fears of a potential child trafficking ring operating in the region. Authorities are treating both cases with utmost urgency and are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the missing child.

The Margherita police have assured the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted into both incidents to ensure the safety and well-being of children in the region.
