Assam: 18 cattle heads recovered in Tinsukia district
Guwahati, 14th February: The illegal cow syndicate persists in Jagun, Tinsukia, as several cattle heads were recovered during a raid conducted by the area’s students’ organization on February 14. Despite the enforcement of the Cow Protection Act, the syndicate operates clandestinely in Jagun and various parts of the state, exploiting the cover of darkness to smuggle cows illegally.
The syndicate operates with minimal documentation, often consisting of a simple paper bearing the signature of the village head. Taking action based on information received about the supply of around 18 cows in a mini LP vehicle bearing registration number 01 QC 4423, destined for Golaghat from Kankan village, the student organizations managed to intercept the vehicle last night and handed it over to the Lekhapani police station.
Subsequently, the students’ union handed over the vehicle to the Lekhapani police, underscoring their efforts to combat the illicit activities of the cow syndicate in the region.
