Assam: 18 Prisoners from 31 Jails To be Released in I-Day
Guwahati: 18 prisoners will be released from 31 prisons located around Assam on July 4th. According to the Union Home Ministry’s directive, it was decided to release the inmates who have been incarcerated for 7 to 10 years based on their level of transparency.
The prisoners will come under open sky after spending 66 percent of their prison term.
There will be the release of 18 inmates, including 4 from Guwahati Central Prison, 4 from Jorhat, 4 from Dibrugarh, 3 from Nagaon Special Prison, 2 from Nagaon Jail, and 1 from Abhayapuri Prison.
It should be noted that there are 11, 325 inmates spread out among the state’s 31 facilities.
Moreover, national flags have been made inside the jail grounds in support of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav this year. At the IG Prison store in Khanapara, flags are on sale.
Meanwhile,four correctional employees received motivating awards from the jail administration for the first time for their outstanding work.
