Assam: 2 Arrested With 3,312 banned tablets in Bongaigaon

Guwahati, 8th March: The Bongaigaon district police, assisted by the North Salmara sub-divisional police officer and Boitamari police, orchestrated a successful raid in Talguri, targeting an area known for illegal drug activities. The operation resulted in the seizure of a substantial cache of banned intoxicating tablets and the apprehension of two individuals involved in the illicit trade.

Under the jurisdiction of the Boitamari police station, the planned operation yielded a staggering 3,312 banned Sempax tablets. Additionally, police arrested two suspects allegedly engaged in trafficking, identified as Nazar Ali and Rezakul Islam.

Rezakul Islam, a resident of Kheluapara Part II and a teacher at the non-provincialized Kheluapara ME School, has a history of involvement in illegal drug activities, as revealed by further investigations. Notably, he is the husband of Ward Member Dilwara Begum and has faced drug-related controversies in the past, leading to multiple encounters with law enforcement and stints in custody.

During the operation, the police also confiscated a motorcycle and a scooty without a number plate, suspected to be used in facilitating the illicit drug trade. The successful raid underscores law enforcement’s commitment to curbing illegal drug activities and ensuring public safety in the region.
